Andalusia is one of the 17 independent communities in Spain. It located in the south of the Iberian Peninsula and has a surface of 87268kmª, one of the largest in the Spanish territory. If we compare, we can say that it is similar to the area of Holland twice. It has a population of more than 8 million inhabitants distributed along 8 provinces and 770 municipalities.
Africa is just 15km far. Most of the region is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea but also by the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to his geographical situation it has had an important roll through history like for example, when it was known as the Bética, region of the Roman empire or Al-Andalus during the Islamic period.
Andalusia limits on the north with Extremadura and Castille-La Mancha, on the east with Murcia and the Mediterranean Sea, on the south with the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea and the west with Portugal.

In Andalusia there are 2 great mountainous systems, Brown mountains range in the north and the Betic system in the south formed by the Subbetic and Penibetic mountain range. As great axis is the Guadalquivir river that forms a great depression from the province of Cordova, this one with a length approximated of 600km it is born in the mountain range of Cazorla, Jaen and flows between mountainous areas until the province of Cordova, bathing the countryside until its estuary in the Atlantic Ocean it crosses as much Cordova as Seville and serves as natural border between the provinces of Huelva and Cadiz.
Visitors can enjoy the snow, the desert, beaches, their valleys and their mountains, some of them of about 3000m. high. All this diversity besides the pleasant climate makes of Andalusia a paradise for the lovers of the sport practiced in the nature.
By its geographic situation the climate in Andalusia is influenced as much by the Atlantic Ocean as by the Mediterranean Sea. Winters are smooth on the coast and cold in mountainous zones. The spring and the autumn are characterized by pleasant temperatures in the coast as in the interior. Summers are very warm in the interior and something smoother on the coast. Normally it does not rain much in this region, the greater rainfall average takes place in spring and autumn, the winds generally are not strong except in the coast.
